Sled Dog Tours in the Southern Oregon Cascades
Wanna Go?
Your adventure starts as our friendly energetic huskies strain to greet you. They know you're special, and here to see them…and a run is about to happen! They live for moments like this.
The excitement builds as one by one the dogs are harnessed, and bootied, then each in turn is put into position on the gangline in front of the sled. The excitement continues to escalate and the dogs personify enthusiasm – barking, dancing, whining, woo-oooing, and yes, screaming to GO! Your driver finally turns to the sled and stands on the brake, with bedlam erupting as the dogs, so eager to run, can contain themselves no longer and lunge forward, seeking to release the sled and propel it into wild places.
With a cheerful “Let's go” – you're off. Suddenly all is quiet, save the rustle of clothing, the dogs' breathing, the rhythmic slap of pads on snow. You quickly leave behind your departure point, and your civilized life, and begin to imagine yourself exploring untamed lands by dogsled, as the wilderness envelops you…
You can have an experience just like this with a sled dog tour ride from Briar's Patch Sled Dogs. Rides can be customized for your group from an hour to all day, and you can explore a wide variety of trails and scenery of the Southern Oregon Cascades and Upper Klamath Basin. Tours run year-round, weather and trail conditions permitting, and utilize a 2 seater wheeled German cart in the non-snow times, and toboggan style sleds during the snow season.
Sled dog tours are conducted under the
skilled direction of veteran musher Liz
Parrish and her long distance racing dogs.
Travel with the same team which is preparing
to run the 2008 Iditarod.
